The River Yeo level remains high; the drain level at Huish Episcopi Pumping Station is 8.60m and stable. Property flooding is possible above 8.35m. Flooding affects the Langport to Muchelney road when this drain level exceeds 7.30m, the Muchelney to Long Load road above 7.86m, the Muchelney to Thorney road above 7.93m and the Muchelney to Drayton road above 8.8m. For flood levels refer to https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/. Pumping will start at Huish Episcopi and Westover stations once river levels allow. The Parrett Relief Channel will be opened once spillways stop running.
A band of sustained rain, heavy at times, is forecast overnight. The catchments are saturated, so rivers are forecast to rise again, though not as much as on Tuesday. Any response from the rivers to tonight’s rainfall will occur tomorrow, Friday, as the peak passes down through the system.
We are monitoring the situation closely. Staff are checking the condition of flood banks and spillways. Avoid driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 1 PM on 30/01/2026, or as the situation changes
