This is a Flood Alert Update. River levels are falling steadily, but remain high at the Stinsford river gauge as a result of the recent rainfall. Flooding could still affect locations near the Lower Dorset Frome tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham, with low lying land and roads near rivers expected to be most affected. The weather remains unsettled, and although there are only isolated showers forecast for today, further bands of rain are forecast for tomorrow. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. People in this area should continue to monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 3:00PM on 29 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
