River levels remain high on the River Derwent at Buttercrambe. Levels have peaked at Buttercrambe and will continue to slowly fall through the night of Saturday 13th December 2025. However, levels are likely to remain high through to Sunday 14th December 2025. Locations most affected will be Buttercrambe Mill at Buttercrambe Bridge. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and liaising with emergency services and local authorities. Stay away from floodwater - it contains hidden dangers such as open manhole covers, sewage and chemicals. This message will be updated by 8:00AM on Sunday 14th December 2025, or as the situation changes.
