Flood Warning

Washford River, riverside properties from Kingsbridge to Lower Roadwater

The level on the Washford River is falling but remains high and above the Flood Warning level due to continued groundwater entering the river from the surrounding saturated land. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Washford River, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected. Areas at risk include properties in Roadwater and roads in Kingsbridge. Further rain is forecast throughout Friday and Saturday. Rainfall will mainly be light but there is the potential for periods of heavier downpours and blustery conditions. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely and Field Teams are clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages. Act on your flood plan if you have one and check that any flood resistance and resilience equipment you may have is operational. This message will be updated by 6PM on 30/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
