Flood Alert

Western Rother

The Western Rother is high at Fittleworth, and higher than normal at Lodsbridge near Selham, but now falling in all communities. Flood impacts will continue to affect Fittleworth Mill and nearby properties, also gardens of isolated mill properties at Lodsbridge near Selham, as well as roads and fields. Between Liss and Midhurst river levels have already returned near to normal. Small amounts of rain are forecast Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday. River levels will likely rise again from 22:00 29/01/2026 in Liss, then again Friday evening, but in most communities should not rise as high as recent events. Only minor flood impacts are expected to affect fields, roads, and gardens, although might get close to recent peaks in Fittleworth. River levels should finally begin to fall Saturday evening in Liss, but not until Sunday in Fittleworth. However more rain is forecast Monday afternoon, which will cause the river to rise again. Keep in place any flood protection products you may have. Including in Lodsbridge and Fittleworth. This message will be updated by 14:00 30/01/2026.
