High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 31/01/2026, after above average rainfall in January.
Springs will appear, water will be in fields, and small amounts of water could flood down roads. Groundwater at Compton borehole is expected to pause rising around the 01/02/2026. However, small amounts of rain are forecast Friday and Saturday. More rain is suggested next week. If further rain occurs further groundwater rise could cause more water to flow along Stoughton main road, the road from East Marden, between Cooks Lane and Barley Mow in Walderton, the B2146 near Woodlands Lane. Towards the end of the first week of February water could also affect cellars in Stoughton and Walderton.
We are closely monitoring the situation , including rainfall, groundwater and forecasts.
Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid roads that flood (Stoughton, Walderton). Ensure pumps work.
This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 02 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
