High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible , as a lot of rain fell this week (41mm).
From Friday 30/01/2026, flooding will affect cellars of a small number of properties in Lower West Street. From Monday 02/02/2026, an increased number of properties on West Street are expected to be affected by cellar flooding. On Friday 30/01/2026 and Saturday 31/01/2026, up to 15mm of rain is forecast on each day. Sunday 01/02/2026 and Monday 02/02/2026, are expected to be drier. Groundwater levels at the borehole at Whitedale Farm are expected to continue rising through next week and it is possible that properties on East Street could be affected by cellar flooding during this time.
We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Hambledon Flood Action Group.
Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .
