Groundwater flooding in Hambledon

Groundwater levels in Hambledon are high but slowly falling. At the borehole at Whitedale Farm, the level has fallen by 1.8m in the last week. Flooding is expected to be affecting cellars in East Street and West Street. Sewerage system impacts are expected to be ongoing in the village. From Thursday 12/03/2026 into Friday 13/03/2026, between 15 and 20mm of rain is forecast. Drier weather is expected over the weekend. If heavy rain affects Hambledon, ongoing flooding impacts will be prolonged. We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Hambledon Flood Action Group. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 18:00 18/03/2026.
