Groundwater flooding in Hambledon

Groundwater levels in Hambledon are high but slowly falling. At the borehole at Whitedale Farm, the level has fallen by 50cm in the last week. Currently, widespread cellar flooding is expected. Groundwater is infiltrating sewers and causing issues with overflowing manholes. Fareham Road is closed, and water is flowing onto the road on the north side of East Street. Only small amounts of rain are forecast from Thursday 05/03/2026 to Monday 09/03/2026. Groundwater levels in Hambledon will continue to slowly fall. We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Hambledon Flood Action Group. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 18:00 12/03/2026.
