Groundwater flooding in Bramdean and Cheriton


Groundwater levels in Bramdean and Cheriton remain high but slowly falling. At the borehole at Cheriton Wood, the level has fallen by 19cm in the last week. Flooding could affect cellars of a small number of properties in Cheriton. Septic tanks will struggle to operate effectively. Dry weather is forecast from Monday 16/03/2026 to Friday 20/03/2026. Groundwater levels will continue slowly falling over the next week. Flooding impacts will continue to affect Cheriton throughout March. We are closely monitoring the situation. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 18:00 23/03/2026.
