Groundwater flooding in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne

Groundwater levels in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne are high but slowly falling. At the borehole in Kings Somborne, the level has fallen by 19cm in the last week. Groundwater has now fallen below the level we expect cellar flooding to occur in the village. However, residual flooding impacts may still be ongoing. Mostly dry weather is forecast on Tuesday 10/03/2026, Wednesday 11/03/2026 and Saturday 14/03/2026. On Thursday 12/03/2026 and Friday 13/03/2026, further rain (between 20 and 25mm) is expected. If heavy rain affects the area, further cellar flooding impacts could occur from the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 18:00 17/03/2026.
