River Kennet from Thatcham down to Reading

High river levels may lead to flooding. River levels are high on parts of the River Kennet from Newbury down to Reading. Flooding of low lying land and roads remains possible today, 12 March 2026, including in the Calcot area. The forecast is for a mostly dry day today with light showers possible during the afternoon. Heavy rain is expected this evening and overnight. Friday is forecast to be mostly dry with a chance of showers. River levels are high but falling slowly. We expect levels to fall gradually over the coming days. Levels are sensitive to further rainfall. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Avoid low lying footpaths and roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Go to River Levels Online for updates on current river levels. This message will be updated by 12PM on 13 March 2026, or as the situation changes.
