High river levels may lead to flooding.
River levels are high on parts of the River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to and including Oxford. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue today, 29 Jan 2026, especially in the Thrupp area. The forecast is predominantly dry today (29/01/26), with widespread light rain expected overnight and into tomorrow morning. We expect river levels to remain high over the coming days, and for levels in the lower part of the catchment to rise as water moves through the system.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Avoid low lying footpaths and roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Go to River levels online for updates on current river levels.
This message will be updated by 12pm on 30 Jan 2026 or as the situation changes.
