Groundwater flooding in West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding. Flooding of low-lying areas and roads is possible. Groundwater levels are now at the point that properties may be impacted. Groundwater levels are continuing to rise at our Hodcot borehole affecting West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne. The groundwater level is higher than normal for this time of year. We expect levels to continue rising slowly over the coming days. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Take particular care when driving through flood water both for your own safety and to prevent flooding to others. This message will be updated by 12 PM, on the 17 March 2026, or as the situation changes.
