Rivers Esk and Irthing

Flooding continues to be possible to low lying land and roads on 15 December 2025. The heavy rain on Sunday (14/12/2025) and in the early hours of Monday (15/12/2025) has caused river levels to rise however, we do not expect Flood Warnings to be issued in this area. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers Esk and Irthing and other watercourses, including low lying areas around Longtown and Brampton. We are closely monitoring the situation . Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses . This message will be updated by 17:00 on 15 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
