Rivers Esk and Irthing

Heavy rainfall in the early hours of this morning has caused rising river levels which may lead to flooding of land and road. Flooding is possible from 10:00 AM today 15/09/2025. Areas most at risk include Rivers Esk and Irthing and other watercourses, including low lying areas around Longtown and Brampton. Persistent rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day today into the evening. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
